our.story
We started wollof because we were bored with the type of coffee we had access to. Yes, there are hundreds of coffee brands around. But when you get past the fancy jargon and long-winded lectures, most of the coffee out there tastes, smells and feels the same.
So, around 2020, we set out on a mission to craft a modern take on Senegalese spiced coffee. In doing so, we created an innovative coffee experience that is equal parts sustenance, healing, and divine inspiration to a Senegalese. We did this by carefully sourcing our robusta and Jaar dried fruit from black and brown growers. We also leveraged modern roasting and packaging processes to further push the limits of innovative coffee experiences. The end result, similar to our journey from Dakar to Austin, has been nothing short of magical.
our.inspiration
Wollof is our mother tongue.
It's a dialect and a vibrant culture rich in beauty and energy. As the creators of spiced coffee, or "Café Touba" as the Senegalese call it, the Wollof people have made a significant contribution to Senegalese culinary heritage. So it was fitting that we gave the Wollof their flower by naming our blend after them.
our.process
Wollof is a dark roast coffee available in both whole bean and ground formats.
Our mission is to continue ethically sourcing organic robusta and jaar (grain of selim), and to elevate the black and brown folks who care for the plants and earth from which they grew.
These ingredients are then roasted and packaged in Austin, Texas.
Like always, future product offerings will be driven by your feedback and our own reflections on packaging, convenience, and sustainability.
All in all, we're ready for the challenge and are excited for what's come.
